The Cascadia is Brooks' long-running trail workhorse, and the 18 is built around the Trail Adapt system: a plastic structure with two heads in the heel that run as wings along each side of the midsole, plus three fork-like heads in the forefoot. It is there for protection and stability on uneven ground rather than propulsion. Underneath, TrailTack Green rubber with 4 mm lugs handles the grip.
