The FuelCell SuperComp Elite v3 is New Balance's flagship racer, and the shoe its Energy Arc technology was built around. Instead of laying a flat carbon plate inside a slab of foam, New Balance curves the plate and voids the midsole beneath it — the gap lets the plate bend and store energy under load, then release it at toe-off. FuelCell foam carries the cushioning, and at 217 g the whole thing sits with the lightest racers on the market.
