Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Next 3% Ekiden

Nike's Ekiden packs are named after the Japanese relay format, and the soft colour blocking here marks this Vaporfly out from the standard releases. Mechanically nothing changes: ZoomX foam through the midsole, a full length carbon plate and the stripped back racing upper that keeps the whole shoe remarkably light in the hand. Even the laces and heel tab are trimmed back to keep the total weight down.

Relay legs are an obvious fit, but the shoe is just as useful for a half marathon or a fast 10k where you want turnover without the taller Alphafly platform. It feels firmer and more responsive, which some runners prefer at shorter distances. Keep it for races and sharpening rather than daily mileage. Runners often buy an Ekiden pair as much for the colourway as for the racing.
