The Cloudboom Volt arrives here in an Ember colourway drawn from On's work with Post Archive Faction, and the design language does nothing to soften what sits underneath. This is On's racing platform, shaped around a carbon plate that holds its line as the pace climbs and keeps the handover from midfoot to toe-off quick and predictable on tarmac.

Save it for the sessions that matter: marathon day, a tempo block, a time trial where you want the shoe working with you rather than asking for patience. The upper is thin and sits close to the foot, the CloudTec pods underneath stay firm enough to keep giving energy back late in a race, and the whole shoe feels purposeful from the first stride.
