The Speedcross is the shoe Salomon built its trail reputation on, and the 6 does one job better than almost anything else on the market: grip in mud. Its Contagrip outsole runs 5.8 mm chevron lugs — among the deepest on any mainstream trail shoe — which dig into soft ground where a shallower shoe would slide. The upper is thick, solid mesh built to keep debris out and survive being dragged through undergrowth.
