The ZoomX Ultrafly Trail in Dusty Cactus is Nike's trail racing flagship, a muted olive-green shoe with a lot going on underneath. ZoomX foam gives it an unusually light, bouncy feel for something aimed at rough ground, and a plate running through the midsole adds the stability that much foam would otherwise lack on uneven surfaces.

It is designed for long races and hard training efforts across mixed terrain, from gravel and fire road to rock and hard-packed dirt. The ride is noticeably springy, which helps late in a long day when the legs are tired. Deep lugs keep it honest on looser ground, though very technical rock suits a lower shoe better.
