On Cloudboom Strike W

The Cloudboom Strike is the sharper end of On's racing range, and the women's version keeps that directness intact. The midsole is lively rather than enormous, and with a carbon plate inside it the shoe encourages a quick cadence. Runners who like to feel the road while racing tend to get on with it quickly.

It fits races from ten kilometres up to the marathon, and it is well suited to interval sessions where you want race feel without a bulky platform. The upper is pared back to almost nothing, the heel is held by light padding, and the outsole rubber is placed to survive repeated fast turns on tarmac. Few shoes cover that much ground for so little weight in a bag.
