Cream makes the Cloudmonster 2 look more like a lifestyle shoe than a mileage machine, which is useful if it needs to do both. The ride is unchanged underneath: large CloudTec pods that compress deeply on landing and a smoother roll through the stride than the first generation managed on the road. It is a shoe that looks at home on a run and afterwards too.

It covers easy running, commuting on foot and the long, slow miles that make up most of a training plan. The Speedboard keeps the cushioning organised, the upper is light and breathable for warmer months, and the wide outsole footprint gives a reassuringly flat landing on pavement and smooth park paths. For a shoe this cushioned, the range of uses is unusually wide.
